Baring Asset Management has named Ken Lambden as new chief investment officer, effective 16 September 2014.

Based in London, Lambden will report to Barings’ chairman and chief executive officer, David Brennan.

Prior to joining Barings, Ken most recently served as global head of equities at Schroders with oversight for over £90 billion of assets.

Previously, he also served as CEO and CIO of Schroders’ Australian business and responsible for the division’s equity, fixed income and multi-asset teams.

Additionally, Marino Valensise, currently CIO at Barings, has been appointed as head of multi asset group replacing Percival Stanion, who has quit the firm to take up an external opportunity. Also Andrew Cole and Shaniel Ramjee have also decided to step down from Barings.

In his new role, Valensise will now manage the Baring Dynamic Asset Allocation fund and report to Lambden, while Christopher Mahon will oversee the Baring Multi Asset fund.

At the same time, Barings has also hired Sonja Laud to the as new multi asset income investment manager.

Based in London, Laud will report to Valensise. She joined Barings from Schroders where she worked as fund manager with responsibility for five global equity funds that focused on income.

Brennan said: "We are pleased to welcome Ken to the firm as we continue to strengthen and develop our investment capabilities. It is a natural fit for Marino to assume leadership of our multi asset franchise ensuring continuity of investment approach and insight across the portfolios."
