Baring Asset Management (Barings) has named James Ind and Merrick Styles to its multi-asset team.

Styles will also become a member of the Strategy Policy Group (SPG) and Economic Research Group and chair the asset class research sub group.

Ind will join Barings as a member of the SPG and the Equity Research SuG group in early September. He will also oversee the development of a long short strategy.

Styles will also join Barings as a member of the SPG and the Economic Research Sub Group in mid-October replacing Hartwig Kos. He will also become the chairman of the Asset Class Research Sub Group and become the lead manager of the Baring Euro Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund.

Based in London, Ind and Styles will report to Marino Valensise, head of multi-asset.

Previously, Ind had managed long short multi asset funds as well as equities at firms including GLG Partners, Russell Investments and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Styles joined Barings from Amundi, where he was most recently co-head of investments for the UK business. He began his career at that firm in 2005 and was a part of the team that managed the multi asset VaR funds at Credit Agricole.
