Barclays has appointed Irene McDermott Brown as group’s human resources director, subject to regulatory approvals.
Brown will join the executive committee and report directly to group chief executive, Antony Jenkins.

McDermott Brown has been the Interim group human resources director since October 2012.
Irene has worked in HR for 25 years and held senior roles at Cable & Wireless, Barclays Private Clients and BP, as well as leading her own consultancy business.
Antony Jenkins, group chief executive, Barclays said: "Irene has demonstrated her commitment and ability to lead an HR function which can support the business as we deliver the Transform agenda and embed our new purpose and values throughout Barclays – both essential to achieving our goal of becoming the ‘Go-To’ bank."
