Swiss private lender Bank J. Safra Sarasin has named Karsten Junius as new chief economist, effective 1 April 2014.
In his new role, Junius will be responsible to lead the economic research team at the Swiss private bank.

Junius will be replacing Jan Poser, who will focus completely on his current role as head asset management at Bank J. Safra Sarasin.
Junius has joined Bank J. Safra Sarasin from the International Monetary Fund where he served as a principal economist. Prior to this, he also served as head of capital markets and real estate research at DekaBank and as economist at Metzler Asset Management GmbH.
Previously, Junius also served as economist at the Kiel Institute of World Economics in Germany.
