American hedge fund sponsor Balyasny Asset Management has appointed three money managers from SAC Capital Advisors as part of its expansion in London.

Colin Lancaster, a Balyasny spokesman, was quoted by Wall Street Journal as saying that Massimo Amati, Stanislas de Caumont and Robert Harris will join Balyasny’s London office in January following the closure of the SAC Capital’s UK office.

The publication reported that Amati and de Caumont both joined SAC in 2012 and managed macro strategy portfolios with US$200 million to US$250 million of capital, while Harris joined the hedge fund in 2008 and managed a stock portfolio focused on business services and leisure-industry companies.

SAC Capital has closed its operations in the UK as part of its decision to restructure and shrink the business following a record insider trading settlement with the US government.

Balyasny Asset Management also has offices in New York and Chicago and manages roughly US$4 billion in assets.
