Aviva is set to re-launch its face-to-face advice service in the UK by the end of the year.

The team will be restricted to offering advice on Aviva products, such as drawdown and annuities.

According to Aviva client advice director Andy Barton, the move to launch the new service was in response to increased demand after introduction of pension freedoms last year.

Pension freedoms offered people a lot more choice regarding their retirement savings, but in turn required more complex decisions that would be addressed by the new in-house team, Barton said.

Aviva had scrapped its direct advice unit in 2013 as part of a company-wide restructure.
