Versey will further strengthen the firm’s investment proposition, supporting internal clients and growing the business externally.

A spokesman for Aviva Investors said that Versey will mainly focus on investment solutions that deliver income with low volatility.

"That we have attracted someone of Mark’s calibre to this role is a strong indicator of the positive direction of our business," spokesman added.

Prior to joining Aviva, Versey has headed Friends Life for three years and was involved in setting up its Friends Life Investment asset management arm last year. Prior to this, he served as CIO for AXA UK, and held several roles at Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, and Deutsche Bank.
