The Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI) has appointed Gordon Hagart as its new CEO, replacing Ann Byrne, who retires at the end of October after a spell of five years at the firm.
Most recently, Gordon Hagart served as head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Risk Management at the US$100 billion Commonwealth Government fund.

ACSI president, Gerard Noonan, said that Hagart had most recently spearheaded the development and implementation of the ESG risk management program within the investment team of Australia’s sovereign wealth fund.
Hagart previously helped develop the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, to which many Australian ‘all profit to member’ superannuation funds are signatories.
Hagart said the ACSI experience demonstrated the worth to beneficiaries of superannuation funds working in collaboration and taking a truly long-term approach to investment risks and opportunities.
Hagart started his career as an investment banking analyst with Greenhill & Co. in London, and also worked as an investment consultant in Zurich.
