Arbuthnot Latham & Co will open its first international branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre pending all necessary regulatory approval.

The UK based private bank intends to extend its international offering and to take advantage of the growth happening in the region.

"Our expansion into the Middle East reflects Arbuthnot Latham’s confidence for growth in the region and the position which Dubai occupies within that growth," said James Fleming, CEO of Arbuthnot Latham.

Paul Millar has been appointed head of international private banking in Dubai, leaving his previous position with Coutts as head of Middle East and Chief Operating Officer of their offshore business.

"Although the market is competitive, we see a fantastic opportunity to develop Arbuthnot Latham’s brand offshore," he said.

Millar will be responsible for the development and expansion of the Arbuthnot Latham’s business in the Middle East.
