Philips, currently the group managing director of strategy, mergers and acquisitions, marketing and innovation, will additionally take up innovation and digital functions as her new responsibilities from 1 March 2012.
Phillips is credited with her instrumental role in the acquisition of the majority shareholding in ING Australia in 2009. And was also a board director of OnePath.

She is also knoen for having extensive international experience having held senior executive roles at American Life InsuranceCompany and Citigroup where she was responsible for Citi’s global retail banking franchise.
Commenting on the appointment, Mike Smith, ANZ group chief executive said "Joyce Phillips brings significant knowledge and experience to the wealth business which will allow us to quickly build momentum around this opportunity."
The other senior appointments include Shayne Elliott, presently CEO Institutional to take up the role of Chief Financial Officer. He will also head the strategic activities of the company.
Elliott’s team will focus on clients who depend on trade or capital flows in the Asia-Pacific region, Australia and New Zealand. That included a focus on three growth segments – natural resources, agriculture and infrastructure, ANZ said.

By GlobalDataAlex Thursby will take up an expanded role as CEO Global Institutional and Asia Pacific Europe and America (APEA). Thursby will focus on ANZ’s largest multi-national clients globally and the growth and transformation of ANZ’s international franchise. He will also continue to have responsibility for Retail and Commercial in Asia Pacific, and Partnerships.
Meanwhile, Elliott, Thursby and Phillips will remain members of ANZ’s management board and report directly to ANZ Chief Executive Officer Mike Smith.
