Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) has appointed former senior executive at Lloyds Banking Group Andrew Géczy as CEO International and Institutional Banking division to spearhead its Asian expansion.
In his new role, Géczy will be based in Melbourne and report to CEO Mike Smith. He is expected to begin his new job on 16 September 2013.

Géczy will join the ANZ Management Board replacing Alex Thursby, who left to become chief executive of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi.
Geczy, who has 25 years experience in wholesale banking, markets and asset management, was previously chief executive of Lloyds’ wholesale banking and markets division.
Prior to Lloyds, he was founder of the asset management firm Manresa Partners and before that he held a number of leadership roles at Citigroup.
Smith said: Géczy was the ideal leader to continue to grow the business in Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific, to manage the risk and regulatory landscape, and to support the delivery of our super regional aspirations".
