Altegris, a US-based provider of alternative investments, has appointed Jack L Rivkin as new chief investment officer replacing Allen Cheng, who will remain a portfolio manager.
In his new role, Rivkin will head the firm’s Research and Investments Group and will be responsible for identifying, selecting and monitoring fund managers across multiple investment disciplines and will oversee asset allocation and research for Altegris products.

Additionally, he will be a member of the Altegris Investment Committee alongside serving as a key representative of Altegris in the investment community.
Prior to joining Altegris, Rivkin most recently served as an executive adviser with Aquiline Capital Partners and held various roles with Neuberger Berman, Citigroup Investments, and PaineWebber. He has also served as director of global research and head of the worldwide equities division of Lehman Brothers in addition to serving as vice chairman and director of global research at Smith Barney and an executive vice president with Citigroup Investments.
Rivkin has started his career as an analyst at Mitchell Hutchins and later became chairman of Mitchell Hutchins and president of PaineWebber Capital.
