Alliance Trust Investments has expanded its sustainable future ethical fund range by launching two new risk profiled funds.

Known as Sustainable Future Defensive Managed fund and Sustainable Future Cautious Managed fund, the new funds will invest in shares, bonds and cash in sustainable and ethical companies.

The funds will be managed by the head of SRI (socially responsible investment) Peter Michaelis as lead manager, supported by Simon Clements as co-fund manager and Stuart McMaster who will be in charge of the fixed income element of the portfolio.

The Sustainable Future Defensive Managed Fund will hold 45% of net asset value in global equities, with the rest invested in bonds and cash, while the Future Cautious Managed Fund aims to hold 60% in global equities.

The new launches will take the total number of risk-profiled SRI funds at ATI to five.

Risk-profiled by Distribution Technology, the risk ratings for the funds range from a rating of four through to eight.

Michaelis said: "We are launching these new funds in response to a growing demand from the intermediary market for a comprehensive range of risk profiled ethical investment opportunities. As SRI becomes ever more mainstream, IFAs are increasingly asked to recommend these types of funds.
