Dutch banking group ABN AMRO has hired former RBS investment bankers Jeroen Westrik and Gregory Vandeler for its commodities advisory unit.

Westrik has been named as head of ECT sector origination, while Vandeler will assume the role as sector originator. The duo will be based in Amsterdam in their new roles, Bloomberg has reported.

The move comes as the banks shrink their ECT operations after the global economic slowdown cut demand and prices for raw materials.

In September last year, ABN AMRO appointed Jan Maarten Mulder, the former head of corporate finance and treasury at Amsterdam-based Trafigura Beheer BV, as global head of commodities.
