Nigel William Wray, non-executive director of Domino’s Pizza Group, a UK-based franchisee of fast food pizza delivery chain Domino’s Pizza, has sold 4,910,179 shares, representing a 2.98% stake in the company.

Wray, who is also chairman of rugby club Saracens, sold the shares on 2 August 2013, at a price of £5.70 ($8.645) per share, for gross proceeds of about £27.98 million ($42.45 million).

The company has recently experienced a big loss in the pre-tax profits of its German business, with a 46% slump to £11.6m from £21.5 million in 2012.

However, according to the company’s latest interim results, group’s sales increased by 13.8% to £326.5 million, with online sales accounting for 63.3% of UK delivered sales.

As of 30 June 2013 a total of 22 new stores opened resulting in a total of 825 stores, including Ireland, Germany and Switzerland, and creating 600 new jobs.
