HSBC Private Banking reports sharply lower profits

HSBC’s private banking business posted pre-tax profits of $108m to the end of June 2013 marking a 80% loss in profitability at the division. The sharp drop in profitability at the division was also accompanied by the sting of lower operating income in the first half of 2013.

Merrill Lynch Q2 net earnings down 2%

Merrill Lynch, the wealth management division of Bank of America, has reported net earnings of US$967 million for the second quarter of 2013, a 2.1% decrease compared to US$988 million for the same period previous year.
