UK-based lender Barclays is hiring in the Asia Pacific region to refocus its investment banking business, said Andrew Jones who is the bank’s co-chief executive officer for Asia-Pacific.
The bank will particularly focus on Indonesia as the region for hiring, said Jones to Bloomberg.

Jenkins announced layoff plans for 7,000 investment-banking jobs globally in May as revenue from trading fixed income, currencies and commodities reduced.
The move will reduce jobs across the firm to 19,000 by 2016.
Commenting on the new hirings, Jones said, "We are hiring to basically fill out the business, and we adopted a new model which is more country-centric."
He added that the lender is set to expand in capital markets in China and continues to invest in India.
