PineBridge Investments, a global asset manager, has named John Thornton as new non-executive chairman, effective 21 November 2014.
Thornton will be succeding E. Mervyn Davies, Lord Davies of Abersoch, who chaired the board for four years.

In his new role, Thornton will work alongside the Board and members of senior management in expanding the firm’s strategy.
Thornton previously worked as president and member of the Board of The Goldman Sachs Group.
Thornton currently chairs the Board of Barrick Gold Corporation and works as a director of the Ford Motor Company.
