James Packer has appointed Robert Rankin, a senior executive of Deutsche Bank as the chief executive of its private investment vehicle, Consolidated Press Holdings.
Rankin, who is also nominated as co-chairman of Packer’s Crown Limited and as a director of Macau-based Melco Crown Entertainment, will leave Deutsche in January to head the Australian businessman and multi-billionaire’s investment empire.

Rankin joined Deutsche Bank replacing Colin Grassie, as chief executive, Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) in 2009 and has been on his current role as co-head of Corporate Banking and Securities and head of Corporate Finance since June 2012.
Deutsche Bank has not yet designated a successor to Rankin, under whose leadership in Asia, Deutsche became a joint global coordinator on AIA Group’s $20.5bn IPO and a joint book-runner on Agricultural Bank of China’s $22.1bn dual-listing.
Jürgen Fitschen and Anshu Jain, co-chief executive officers of Deutsche Bank, said: "We wish Rob well in his new role and look forward to working with him as a client. We thank him for his leadership and excellent results."
