EFG Bank (Luxembourg) has hired Konstantinos Karoumpis as its new chief executive officer, effective from mid-January.

Karoumpis will succeed François-Régis Montazel, who is set to exit the bank at this year end to start his own business.

However, according to a statement issued by the bank, François-Régis Montazel will continue to work with EFG Bank (Luxembourg) and will remain on its board.

Prior to joining EFG, Karoumpis served at Credit Suisse in Luxembourg which he joined in 2007, and most recently was designated as head of private banking & wealth management, while earlier being responsible for business development and support roles.

Before that, Karoumpis served in corporate banking roles at BNP Paribas and Bank of Cyprus in Athens and Cyprus respectively.

Apart from his responsibilities at EFG Bank (Luxembourg), Karoumpis will also be responsible for managing development of EFG International’s planned new offices in Athens and Cyprus.
