French asset management firm Amundi has expanded its emerging market debt team by hiring Esther Law and Abbas Ameli-Renani to its London office.

Law will join Amundi as investment manager, while Ameli-Renani will join as emerging markets strategist.

In her new role, Law will be responsible for local debt portfolios and report to Sergei Strigo, head of emerging market debt management, global bond and currency management.

Law joined Amundi from Pioneer Investments, where she served as emerging markets portfolio manager.

Prior to this, Law served as a director in emerging markets strategy for Société Générale and a senior EM strategist for the Royal Bank of Scotland. She started her career in 1998 at HSBC as a fixed-income trader.

Additionally, Ameli-Renani will report to Philippe Ithurbide, head of research, analysis and strategy. Prior to joining Amundi, he worked with RBS Markets & Banking, where he led CEEMEA fixed income strategy and also served as a G10 FX strategist with RBS.
