EFG International has selected John Reed to be chairman of its UK business.

EFG International has appointed John Reed to the board of its London-based subsidiary, EFG Private Bank Limited, with immediate effect.

He will assume the role of chairman at the next board meeting, to take place during the first quarter of this year.

John Reed has extensive experience of private banking and financial services more generally. He was CEO of Arbuthnot Latham from 2003-2007 and its Vice Chairman from 2007-2008.

Prior to this, he held a number of senior positions at SG Hambros, which he joined in 1989, encompassing a range of functional areas. These roles included Group COO; group head of risk; and head of corporate banking, Hambros bank. John Reed began his career at Midland Bank.

He has a portfolio of non-executive directorships, including Ford Credit Europe Bank plc; Talos Securities Ltd; Innovation Finance Ltd (Chairman); and Bank Of The Philippine Islands (Europe) PLC.
