The strategy head of Morgan Stanley’s wealth management arm, Doug Ketterer, is set to retire.

According to media reports, Ketterer’s departure could be partly attributed to the firm’s shake-up of its brokerage leadership in 2014.

The strategy role was newly created, and required Ketterer to focus on client engagement. The responsibilities of the role were reportedly largely undefined, which led to the departure of Ketterer.

Morgan Stanley has not yet named a replacement for Ketterer, who had a 25 year stint at the firm.

Ketterer earlier led the company’s US brokerage and private wealth management business, until he quit in last February to take over the strategy role. Ketterer was succeeded in his former role by Shelley O’Connor.
