BNY Mellon has named Mariano Giralt as new head of global tax services.

In his new role, Giralt will be in charge for the growth and development of the company’s global tax services business.

He will be reporting to Dan Kramer, head of Global fund accounting and issuer services client service delivery at BNY Mellon.

Giralt, who joined BNY Mellon four years ago, was previously he was head of tax services for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

BNY Mellon’s global tax services team provides tax service functions including developing new, improving existing tax services, technical research and monitoring, governance and risk management; and tax services strategy.

The team also collaborates with tax processing teams in custody, fund accounting, transfer agency and alternative investment services.

Kramer said: "When Mariano joined BNY Mellon’s Tax Services team four years ago he was a team of one, now we have 12 people in our Tax Services team, with the ability to expand as client needs arise.

"The global focus of Mariano’s team will allow us to successfully deliver tax services across our organization while also providing tax technical support to service our clients. This is part of our strategy to extend services from a regional to a global basis."
