Aberdeen Standard Investment (ASI) has appointed Omar Anwar as the country head and head of distribution for its Indonesia business, replacing Sigit Wiryadi who retired last month.
Anwar has also been appointed as the president director of Aberdeen’s asset management arm in Indonesia.

In the new role, Anwar will be responsible for developing ASI Indonesia’s business and distribution strategies and will head a 32-member team across Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya.
He will be based in Jakarta and will report to ASI deputy head of Asia Pacific Ian Macdonald.
Anwar most recently served as the executive chairman at Nomura Securities Indonesia.
His financial career of over three decades also includes stints at Trimegah Securities, Bank Mandiri, ABN Amro Bank, and Citibank.
