BMO Global Asset Management has bolstered its European institutional distribution team by hiring Jean-Michel Bongiorno as new sales director for France and Björn Bahlmann as sales director for Switzerland.

Bongiorno and Bahlmann will be responsible for introducing the business’s full range of capabilities and solutions to institutional investors in France and Switzerland respectively.

The duo will report to Kristy Barr, head of institutional distribution, Europe (ex Germany and Netherlands).

Bongiorno will be based in London until the company opens a Paris office planned for later 2016.

In Paris, Bongiorno will work to develop the BMO Real Estate Partners’ European business.

He joined BMO from CBRE Global Investors, where he worked as director of investor relations, Southern Europe, for eight years. Earlier to this, he worked for 11 years as a relationship manager at Thomson Reuters.

Additionally, Bahlmann will work closely with BMO Global Asset Management’s wholesale distribution teams based in Geneva and Zurich to provide coverage to the entire Swiss client base.

Prior to joining BMO, Bahlmann worked with Morgan Stanley as vice president for over five years, initially in Frankfurt then moving to Zurich.

At Morgan Stanley, he was responsible for Swiss, German and Austrian sales activities with institutional and intermediary clients. He also worked as head of products at SEB Asset Management, Frankfurt.
