Financial.ommenting on the opening of the new unit, Bill Downe, president and chief executive of BMO Financial Group, remarked: "The opening of our Abu Dhabi representative office exemplifies the growing ties between North America and the Middle East."
Joseph Georgie has been appointed by the bank as the general manager for the regional representative office.
Previously, Georgie has been responsible for the bank’s relationships with financial institutions in the Middle East and North Africa for more than 15 years.
Firas Mallah, managing director for Middle East and North Africa at BMO Global Asset Management, will also be based at the Abu Dhabi office, and will represent a team of multi-disciplined asset managers based in Toronto and Chicago, and a global network of investment specialist boutiques in Miami, London, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
