Schwartz will be based in Beijing and will be responsible for the overall business of the Asia Pacific region.

In his new role, Schwartz will co-operate with Masa Mochida, president of Goldman Sachs Japan, and David Ryan, president of Goldman Sachs Asia Pacific Ex-Japan.
Previously, Schwartz had served as a president of Japanese operations of Goldman Sachs from 1997 to 2001 and also as the chairman of Goldman Sachs Asia from 1999 to 2001.
After joining the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in 1997, Schwartz had worked with various departments in the firm and was acting as the chairman of MissionPoint Capital Partners, since 2006.
