Fahrinkrug will report to the chief executive officer of Meriten, Werner Taiber, and is scheduled to take over his new role February 2013.

Previously, Fahrinkrug was with Portigon/WestLB AG, serving as the chief economist and head of research, overseeing the bank’s research activities on all asset classes and regions.

And prior to joining Portigon, he was a senior economist at UBS’German office and a member of the bank’s European economics team, specializing in the analysis of the region’s economy, policy making and politics. He succeeds Dr. Holger Sandte, who has left the company.

Commenting on the appointment, Taiber said: "Holger Fahrinkrug brings 20 years’ of research and consulting experience to Meriten. His experience in advising international investors on economic issues and financial markets will translate into important insights for our clients."

As of 31 October 2012, Meriten Investment Management has been managing assets totaling EUR26.3 billion.
