Investors surveyed in February indicated their preferences for ETFs, mutual funds, individual stocks or none of the above. The majority of conservative investors (57 percent) prefer not to invest in any of the products, though rougly one-fourth would select individual stocks, 18 percent mutual funds and 9 percent ETFs.
In comparison, the majority of aggressive investors prefer individual stocks (60 percent) or mutual funds (54 percent), and roughly one-fourth (27 percent) are likely to invest in ETFs. Most moderates (59 percent) prefer mutual funds (59 percent), individual stocks (46 percent) and ETFs (22 percent).
