The new fund is expected to invest across 30 to 40 emerging markets countries, including a broad range of frontier markets.

TCW Group said that asset allocation and security selection will be determined using the firm’s long standing top-down, bottom-up emerging markets research process.

The fund will be managed by Dave Robbins and Penny Foley, who also manage the US$6.6 billion TCW Emerging Markets Income Fund, the US$403 million TCW Emerging Markets Local Currency Income Fund and the US$492 million TCW Worldwide Opportunities Fund.

Foley said: "Through this fund we will seek to benefit from the better growth and balance sheet dynamics in emerging markets through the same total return approach that TCW Worldwide Opportunities Fund has recorded over the past 26 years.
