BlackRock’s lead China equities manager Jing Ning has left the company after overseeing the BGF China Fund for five years.

The BGF China Fund is a China-dedicated equity mutual fund with US$1.27 billion in assets as of end May 2013.

After Ning’s departure, Andrew Swan, head of the Asian Fundamental Equity team, and Emily Dong, co-manager of the BGF Asian Growth Leaders Fund, have been named co-managers on the BGF China Fund.

Dong has been part of the team managing the BGF China Fund since 2010 and was responsible for stock recommendations and management of the fund.

A BlackRock’s spokesperson said: "China equities is an area we are developing with a new focus and are currently building capacity in.

"We were awarded our second QFII allocation of US$100 million in March of this year and will be announcing how we apply this in due course as we look to deepen our Chinese investment market offering through all our channels."
