Tushar Morzaria, the executive hired from JPMorgan Chase & Co., will replace Lucas, who has missed the bank’s half-year results presentation last month, when the cash call was announced.

His departure will leave the bank without a key figure as it seeks to raise £5.8 billion from shareholders through a rights issue as part of a plan to plug a £13 billion "gap" to meet the Bank of England’s new rule.

Morzaria, who will move to London from New York, is not due to join the board until January, the publication said.
