The Isle of Man has signed a tax information exchange agreement (TIEA) with Switzerland, bringing the total number TIEAs signed by it with other countries to 29.

Isle of Man Treasury Minister Eddie Teare said the government welcomes the signing of a TIEA with Switzerland, which is believed to be Switzerland’s first.

"This is the Island’s 29th TIEA and its 39th agreement that meets the OECD international standard on tax co-operation and transparency," Teare said.

"The signing of this agreement demonstrates the Island’s continuing commitment to meet current international standards in tax transparency and effective exchange of information."

Other countries which signed TIEAs with the Isle of Man include the US, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Ireland, UK, Australia, Germany, France, New Zealand.

The Isle of Man has also signed TIEAs with Portugal, China, Canada, India, Poland, Mexico, Japan, Indonesia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Argentina, Botswana.
