Manulife Investments has added two new mandates, US Fixed Income Private Trust and Global Balanced Private Trust, to boost its private investment pool offerings.

The two new pools will be managed by Manulife Asset Management (US) LLC and Mawer Investment Management Ltd., respectively.

Manulife US Fixed Income Private Trust aims to provide long-term total return consisting of income and the potential for capital appreciation by investing primarily in a portfolio of US investment grade and high yield debt securities.

According to Manulife, John Addeo, a fundamental investor of Manulife Asset Management (US) and Dennis McCafferty will serve as portfolio managers for US Fixed Income Private Trust.

The Manulife Global Balanced Private Trust will be managed by Mawer Investment Management’s Greg Peterson, director and senior portfolio manager, Paul Moroz, deputy chief investment officer, and Jim Hall, chief investment officer.

Derek Saliba, assistant vice president of Manulife Mutual Funds, said: " "We’ve also added a second Mawer-managed pool to our line-up which may be an appealing option for affluent clients to invest in the global equity markets with less volatility."

The company has renamed Manulife Balanced Private Pool and Manulife Balanced Private Trust to Manulife US Balanced Private Pool and Manulife US Balanced Private Trust, respectively.

Additionally, the firm will also make minor adjustments to the current broad investment strategies language to more accurately reflect the pools’ focus on US equities and US and international fixed income.
