French asset manager Amundi has named Nesreen Srouji as the new CEO for its Middle East business, replacing Jean Michel Bourgoin.

Srouji will be based in Amundi’s Abu Dhabi office in the new role. She most recently served as head of investors and the public sector at British banking giant Standard Chartered, where she was responsible for overseeing sovereign wealth funds and other institutional clients across the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.

She started her career in 1997 in corporate law in Toronto, and later in London at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

In 2002, she joined Goldman Sachs in London, and in 2006 launched the first mezzanine fund in the MENA region for National Bank of Kuwait.

Amundi, majority-owned by Credit Agricole, manages assets worth about EUR1 trillion, and has operations in over 30 countries.
