Carne Group, the provider of governance solutions to the global fund management industry, has added Laren Gillespie to its Cayman Islands independent fund director’s team.

The firm has hired Gillespie due to its increasing demand for independent fund governance and oversight from fund managers and their legal advisers around the world.

Prior to joining Carne, Gillespie most recently worked at Intertrust Fund Services in the Cayman Islands, where he was responsible for offering independent fund directorship services to hedge funds, private equity funds and investment management structures.

Earlier to this, Gillespie has also worked in a private family office and an international financial services firm based in the Cayman Islands for implementing risk monitoring programmes.

Prior to this, he also worked for Ernst & Young in Edinburgh and for Arthur Andersen, specializing in international taxation.

Gillespie hire comes after the appointment of Scott Craven Jones to Carne’s US team as well as Vanessa Barrett to the Cayman Islands office.

Carne currently has six independent fund directors in the Cayman Islands and 25 globally.
