Close Brothers Asset Management has appointed Robert Alster as new head of research.
Alster will report to chief investment officer Nancy Curtin and will oversee a centralised team of fundamental equity research for the firm’s investment managers.

Prior to joining Close Brothers, Alster worked at AllianceBernstein, where he has held a number of research and portfolio management roles.
Curtin said: "The global economy is picking up and we believe that security selection will be a key driver of return performance. We take a global perspective on investment opportunities and we believe in deep fundamental research.
"Robert’s appointment is a reflection of our continuing desire to invest in our research and investment capabilities," he added.
