PIMCO has appointed Gene Frieda as the new executive vice president and global strategist for its emerging markets and global strategies and Yacov Arnopolin as the new executive vice president and emerging markets portfolio manager.
Frieda will mainly work with the firm’s emerging markets team, as well as will manage other global, country and sector strategies. He will report to PIMCO managing director and CIO – global fixed income Andrew Balls.

Frieda most recently served as a senior global strategist at Moore Capital Management. Before that, he worked as global head of emerging markets research and strategy at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Arnopolin will mainly focus on emerging markets external debt strategies at PIMCO. He will report to PIMCO managing director and head of the emerging markets portfolio management team Michael Gomez.
He most recently served as a managing director and portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York. In this role, he managed emerging market portfolios for institutional clients including pension funds, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds.
Both Frieda and Arnopolin will be based in London in their new roles.
