Bank of America Merrill Lynch has appointed Vikram Sahu as its head of Southern Asia equity research in a move to expand its presence across Asia.
Based in Singapore, Sahu will report to Steve Haggerty, head of Asia-Pacific research, according to Finance Asia.

In his new role, Sahu will lead the research team and direct research strategy for Asean and India.
Prior to joining BofA, Sahu has worked at Goldman Sachs since 1999, most recently serving as managing director and regional director of research for Asean and India. He also served as co-head for the European small and midcap team and founded Goldman Sachs’ Indian research team in Mumbai.
Previously, he also worked as an analyst with Credit Suisse in London and also for the United Nations in New York and Maastricht, spending two years at the organisation.
Additionally, Chin Seng Tay has also been named deputy head of ASEAN equity research. Based in Singapore, Tay will report to Vikram Sahu. Tay has joined BofA Merrill in 2010 from Macquarie Securities.
