Coutts has hired Arne Hassel as new head of investments, with effect from April 2014.

Based in London, Arne will report to Ian Ewart, head of products, services & marketing.

In his new role, Arne will oversee the international investment teams in Edinburgh, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, Singapore and Zurich.

Arne will be replacing Gayle Schumacher, who has been moved to a new role as managing director, future proposition design to support the international development and future delivery of Coutts investment and advice propositions.

Prior to joining Coutts, Arne with over 25 years investment experience, most recently served as co-head multi-asset allocation at the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) in London, where he was responsible for tactical asset allocation and advised the trustees on strategic asset allocation.

Earlier to this, Arne was head of global tactical asset allocation and multi-strategy at Millennium Global Investments. He has also worked at Goldman Sachs Asset Management as head of global currency management and as head of the hedge fund strategies group in Europe and Asia.
