KPMG International has appointed John Veihmeyer as the group’s global chairman, replacing Michael Andrew, who is retiring due to health issues.
Andrew, who has served as global chairman since May 2011, has been diagnosed with a serious medical condition and will focus on his treatment.

Meantime, Andrew will continue his work as co-chair of the Australian B20 Working Group on anti-corruption.
Veihmeyer who currently serves as chairman and CEO of KPMG’s US unit since 2010 will be based in New York and will continue in those roles as global chairman.
The move will come into effect when Veihmeyer’s appointment is ratified at the March meeting of senior partners from KPMG.
Additionally, Veihmeyer also currently serves as chairman of KPMG’s Americas region and as a member of KPMG’s global executive team. Previously, has held several roles at KPMG, including deputy US chairman, managing partner of KPMG’s Washington operations, and global head of risk management and regulatory.
