New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM) has expanded its Asian footprint by opening an office in Japan.
The newly launched branch is now looking to secure the business registrations and licenses required to meet the needs of institutional clients in Japan.

The new office will be headed by Tatsuo Mizutori. He will be responsible for developing NYLIM’s Japan operations, and managing activities of the new branch.
Mizutori has an experience of over three decades working with Japanese and US firms in the asset management industry in Japan.
Prior to NYLIM, Mizutori served as the chief portfolio manager of the advisory fund management unit at Nomura Asset Management, where he oversaw the investment advisory business for institutional clients.
Before that, he served as managing director at Nomura Fund Research and Technologies, where he headed the multi-asset management department, in charge of institutional clients for its investment advisory business.

By GlobalDataHe previously also worked as director of financial institutions at Russell Investments Japan, president and business leader for the Japan office at Mercer Global Investments, as well as held investment management positions at Nippon Credit Bank and NCB Investment Management.
Marketing activities of the newly launched branch will be overseen by Noriko Kawamoto, who joined New York Life in March 2016.

New York Life Investment Management, the third party global asset management arm of New York Life, manages nearly $285bn in assets as of 31 March 2016. The company offers various investment solutions such as fixed income, equity, asset allocation, exchange-traded funds and alternative strategies for its clients.
