The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) has expanded its business opportunity partnership with Japan’s Financial Service Agency (FSA) to promote the development of sound financial regulatory mechanisms and financial markets.

Under the partnership, the cross-border business opportunities will be strengthened between the two countries and also more investment choices will be enabled for investors.

The partnership will range from securities trading services, preparation of securities analysis reports, marketing and investment product development.

Vorapol Socatiyanurak, secretary-general at SEC, said: "The Letters for Cooperation bring about the opportunity for the Thai capital market to connect with the Japanese capital market, one of the leading financial markets in the world."

"It would provide more investment choices for investors of the two countries and also widen investment channels for Japanese investors to connect with Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS)."

Ryotaro Hatanaka, FSA Commissioner, added: "Exchange of letters enables Japan and Thai to continue the financial cooperative relationship between both countries in the long term, and to deepen this relationship enriching the contents along with the development of each market."
