Singapore-based Fullerton Fund Management has hired senior investment professionals Jason Zhu, Ian McCallum and Craig Mitchell to strengthen its equity investment team.

Zhu has been named as the firm’s new head of China equities replacing Grace Lu.

In his new role, Zhu will manage Fullerton’s efforts to bulk up its presence in the China onshore market. He has joined the firm from Franklin Templeton Sealand Fund Management.

McCallum has been named as head of global emerging markets (GEM) equities strategy. He has joined Fullerton from London-based Bedlam Asset Management, where he was chief investment officer.

Mitchell has been given responsibility to develop and launch an Asia absolute return equity fund. He has joined Fullerton from US fund giant Capital Group, where he has served for 14 years in various portfolio manager roles. Prior to this, was also previously a co-founder and portfolio manager at Stewart Asia.

Fullerton said that it would apply for an RQFII licence if it saw sufficient interest from clients.

Meanwhile, Fullerton is planning to expand its presence in London by applying for a licence from the UK regulator.
