US-based wealth management firm Creative Planning has acquired Burt Wealth Advisors, a registered investment advisor based in the US. 

The transaction, said to be Creative Planning’s 15th acquisition in the past two years, adds $1bn in assets under management (AUM) to its portfolio. 

Established in 1985, Burt Wealth Advisors provides financial planning services including retirement planning, tax strategies, education funding, estate planning, and business planning. 

The company also provides portfolio and investment management, as well as support for wealth transfer, estate, and charitable planning. 

It works with clients on their estate administration and distribution to maximise estate value by reducing taxes and expenses. 

Burt Wealth president Fred Cornelius and executive vice-president Maria Cornelius, in a joint statement, said: “Joining Creative Planning gives our clients access to its full suite of services while preserving the personal touch that has defined Burt Wealth since its inception. 

“Both of our firms believe in doing what’s right for clients, investing in long-term relationships and fostering a collaborative environment where advisors can do their best.” 

Creative Planning offers a range of services to individuals, 401(k) plans, and institutional clients. 

The company offers services including investment management, retirement planning, trust services, tax planning, and family office solutions. 

Creative Planning and its affiliates manage and advise on more than $390bn in assets across all 50 states and 90 countries, as of 30 September 2025. 

Gorman Jones acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Burt Wealth on this acquisition.
