Netherlands-based ING Bank has appointed Roel Louwhoff as its new chief operations officer (COO) and member of the management board banking effective 1 May 2014.

In his new role, Roel will be accountable for global operations & IT, change management and procurement within the bank.

Prior to the joining ING Bank, Roel was CEO of British telecoms group BT Operate, where he managed the networks, platforms and data centers.

He joined BT as CEO of customer service and network operations in 2004 and was promoted to oversee operations of BT in 2007.

He has over 20 years of experience in consultancy, operations and IT with various international organizations.

The appointment of Roel Louwhoff as the new COO of the bank has been approved by the Dutch central bank (DNB).
