In addition, he will also become a member of its investment management and banking board, subject to FCA approval.

Prior to joining SWIM, Rosengarten most recently worked at City Financial as head of UK asset management. Earlier to this, he worked for 18 years at M&G as chief executive for equities and a board director. He founded Eden Asset Management in 2011 which later integrated with City Financial.

David Cobb, co-chief executive and head of investment management and banking, said: "Smith & Williamson Investment Management has been going from strength to strength since we took the decision to market the funds business externally five years ago and more latterly to develop our discretionary fund management offering for IFAs.

"We have an ambitious plan to develop the pooled funds business further and believe that someone with the experience and track record of Ed will play a critical part in the next stage of our growth," he added.
