British fund manager Schroders has promoted John Spedding to the role of head of investment trusts in its UK intermediary arm.

Spedding will assume the new role during the third quarter, responsible for the firm’s overall strategy in investment trust.

He will be responsible for developing new opportunities in the investment trust market, managing relationships with shareholders, clients and other key stakeholders.

He will report to managing director of UK intermediary Robin Stoakley, and will work alongside client director Jan Kingzett and investment trust business development manager Stephanie Carbonneil.

“We currently manage £2.73bn across the nine investment trusts in our investment trust business. John will increase our profile in this industry and will provide support for investment trusts to the UK intermediary business development team and to other parts of Schroders’ business. John brings a wealth of expertise to this role and we look forward to him joining the team,” Stoakley stated.

Spedding has spent 20 years of his 26-year financial career at Schroders, where he held roles such as company secretary and client director. He most recently served as the firm’s head of asset management secretariat.
