Northern Trust, a US-based investment management firm, has expanded its Asia-Pacific business by launching securities lending trading desk and foreign exchange services in Sydney, Australia.
The bank has appointed Kia Oboudiyat as the senior sales representative for foreign exchange.

Oboudiyat, most recently based in the firm’s Chicago base, will now offer client services support as well as explore sales opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region.
Bun Eng, most recently based in Northern Trust’s Hong Kong office, will now serve as the senior trader and client executive for the securities lending business in Australia and New Zealand.
Northern Trust head of capital markets for Asia-Pacific Dane Fannin said: “We are delighted to establish a capital markets presence in Australia. Growing Northern Trust’s geographic footprint in the region maximizes trading capabilities and service for our clients.”
The latest move follows Northern Trust’s purchase of institutional equity brokerage firm Aviate Global, which established a second Australian office for Northern Trust.
